Rose and I would often quote song lyrics back and forth at each other... and one of her best comebacks came at the unlikeliest moment. 

After a fall, when the paramedic was trying to work out how to get her safely back on her feet (she was quite frail by then, and Jo and I hadn't dared to try to get her up by ourselves, for fear of hurting her), he said that we would have to try to roll her over.  I relayed this to Rose - I was down on the floor with her...

"Rose, we're going to roll you over." 

"In the clover?" she came back, quick as a flash, the saucy lyrics bubbling straight to the surface, despite how uncomfortable she'd been down there.

And no sooner was she over and up into the paramedic's arms than she was trying to waltz with him.  Talk about indomitable!
