A sad, yet uplifting, day - Rose's funeral on 26th February 2021

Created by Gil 3 years ago

Rose's funeral took place at noon UK time on Friday 26th February.  Fittingly, the sun beamed down as Rose left the cottage where she had lived for 43 years. Rose liked nothing better than to spend time in the garden, preferably in blazing sunshine.

Covid rules restricted the numbers who could attend the chapel in person, and some of us were overseas, so the idea of a live streaming of the service rapidly became the way to go. In the end we believe around 70 people came to bid Rose a last farewell, in person, or online, an extraordinary number of friends for someone who had lived so long - 103 years and 5 months.

The Rev. Tony Mayes conducted the service with great sensitivity, there were moving contributions from friends and family - you can read them just below this story, in the Stories section - and the music, all chosen with an ear to Rose's very firm likes - brought us to tears.

You can watch the service on-line until 25th March on www.obitus.com username Haxu9067 password 601506
